Wisdom Teeth

While wisdom teeth can be a valuable asset to your mouth when they are healthy and properly positioned, problems may develop that require their removal. Our professional Lansing wisdom teeth dentist will work with you to determine the best course of action for your specific situation. Learn more about wisdom teeth here.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a biocompatible, man-made substitute that replaces missing tooth roots. Usually made of the space-age alloy titanium, implants come in various shapes and sizes to fit the situation. Your Lansing implant dentist will place these cylindrical bars into bone allowing them to lay undisturbed while the bone heals around them, locking them in like an anchor. After a few months, the implants are used as a foundation for replacing the missing teeth. Learn more about dental implants here.

Dental Extractions

Good oral hygiene should always be practiced, since the loss of a single tooth can have major impact upon your oral health and appearance. Although our Lansing dentists will use every measure to prevent tooth loss, it is still sometimes necessary to extract a tooth. Learn more about dental extractions here.

Bone Grafting

Despite it scary name, bone grafting surgery can solve numerous dental issues and help your mouth to feel, function and look better. Patients who have been unable to use dental implants due to bone recession — or notice loosening dentures due to bone loss — can now eliminate these obstacles with proper bone grafting treatment.

Long-time denture wearers may notice that their dentures suddenly fit poorly causing their face to have a sunken appearance. Bone grafting is a safe and effective surgical procedure that allows patients with ill-fitting dentures to replace them with dental implants.

TMJ Disorder

The expert Lansing TMJ dentists at Mid-Michigan Oral Surgery can diagnose and treat patients who show symptoms for TMJ, which stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Problems with this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, oral trauma or excess muscle tension. Learn more about tmj disorder here.

Corrective Jaw Surgery

Designed to correct the misalignment of jaws and teeth, jaw surgery will help patients improve their ability to chew, speak and breath. While designed to correct functional dental and skeletal problems, jaw surgery has the added cosmetic benefit of improving a patient’s aoverall appearance and confidence in how they look.

Jaw surgery can effectively correct numerous dental issues, including difficulty chewing, biting or swallowing, chronic TMJ pain, facial injuries, a receding chin and sleep apnea.

Dental Exposures

These surgical exposures are necessary when improperly growing or impacted teeth needed for normal function cannot be removed. Most individuals will have most of their permanent teeth by the age of 13. When one of these permanent teeth does not emerge by then, it may be trapped or stuck under your gums.

Most commonly seen in wisdom teeth, other teeth can experience this as well. By exposing these teeth, they can emerge properly and function properly to support chewing, talking and moving your jaw without pain and discomfort. Dental exposures of your teeth is very safe and effective treatment when performed by a properly trained oral surgeon.
